The short answer is yes. As long as you're over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer in Scouting. There is no upper age limit for adult volunteers. If you are aged between 14 to 18, there is the option of becoming a Young Leader. Going to your Scout meetings is a chance to meet up with your mates, have a laugh and do lots of exciting activities.
You'll meet adventurous people just like you who want to do something a little different. Chief Scout Bear Grylls says life is about grabbing opportunities! We agree! Above everything else, Scouting is all about enjoying yourself, whatever you're doing — and there'll always be plenty to do! As a Scout, you get to explore the big outdoors and travel to new places and try new things.
Sounds better than being stuck in the house with nothing to do, right? Not many people know about the stars at night, how to sail a dinghy or make a sausage stew on a campfire, but you soon will! Scouting helps you learn lots of new and amazing skills — and you get to earn badges and rewards along the way. Set up a tent. Shoot a bow and arrow. Cub Scouts are at that magical age where everything is new and possible and, most important, fun.
They build things. Play with purpose. Make friends and work together. Cub Scouting is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys and girls kindergarten through fifth grade and their families. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Family involvement is an essential part of the program, and parents are encouraged to play an active role. Cub Scouting helps parents make the most of the time they have to impact the lives of their children.
With fun and discovery at every turn, Scouting makes the most of right now! Cub Scouting is for girls and boys in kindergarten through fifth grades, or 5 to 10 years of age.
Kids who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade, are eligible to join the Scouts BSA program. Learn more about Scouts BSA. Please reach out to your pack leaders for information. There are many ways in which you may be able to contribute.
From assisting with a meeting, to chairing a committee, the pack will be glad to hear that you want to help. There are tens of thousands of Cub Scout packs in the United States and its territories, as well as packs that serve the families of U.
The Beaver Scouts are the youngest members of the Scout Association which caters for children aged between six and eight. Your child must therefore be six years old in order to join the Scout Group. You can however register your child's interest in joining our Scout Group at any time. We can then contact you when your child is nearing their sixth birthday to see if they are still eager to join and hence start the arrangements for their first visit to the Beaver Colony. The simple answer to this is no.
In practice, the majority of our members live in Cheddington itself or one of the surrounding villages. If you feel that you live too far from our meeting location, or it is inconvenient to attend 1st Cheddington Scout Group, we can put you in touch with another Scout Group that is more convenient to you. Nothing is required for the first few meetings until your child decides they would like to continue attending; this gives your child the opportunity to decide whether Scouting is for them before you make any outlay.
Once your child decides to be invested then full uniform will be required. All the badges, the scarf and a woggle are supplied by the group as part of the investiture ceremony. Handbooks are also available for all sections; please see the relevant section leader for details.
It is also likely that some more specialist equipment will be required for particular activities e. These are not needed immediately and full details will be given by your Section Leader at the time.
The Scout Association is a uniformed organisation - in practical terms this means that all Beaver and Cub Scouts should possess the relevant sweatshirt and Scouts a shirt. The scarves and woggles are provided by the Group. Children need not wear uniform in their first few weeks whilst they decide if they wish to join permanently so there is no need to rush out and buy anything until you are certain that they wish to join.
The best place to buy uniform is our District Scout shop at Weston Turville. Scouting has a special ceremony for making the Promise called Investiture or being invested. W hat do Cubs do? Cubs take part in a wide range of activities that are designed to be interesting and to challenge them. At the same time they have fun, adventure and make friends along the way.
They do this through taking part in a programme of activities provided by the Leadership team such as: camping, playing games, trying new things and exploring the outdoors.
